My husband and I had a really lovely holiday at Casa Mendoza. It’s a very well equipped, clean house with a comfy bed (only tried one) powerful, hot showers, great pool and stunning views from the terraces.
It was such a nice space to be in that we found it hard to do anything other than relax round the pool and chill out in the covered areas. We enjoyed many barbecues and appreciated the proximity to Comares – good for morning bread.
The booking process and arrival/departure were very easy thanks to excellent communication from Jo, Nick and David.
We thoroughly recommend Casa Mendoza and appreciated the ease of everyone involved. Thank you very much.
Casa Mendoza is set high up on the hillside with a panoramic view of the mountains. The villa is well equipped (it even has a blender), beautifully clean and modern inside.
It is walking distance from Comares, which is good if you want a rest from driving (the mountain roads can be a little challenging at night).
We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend both Vine Ridge Retreats and this villa.
We have just returned from a weeks stay in Case Mendoza and I cannot put into words how beautiful it was. The villa itself has everything you could possibly need and the stunning views are absolutely breathtaking. if you just want to relax and unwind, then this place is ideal. Comares is such a beautiful village and the peace and tranquility is priceless. The locals are so friendly and make you feel so welcome.
The whole booking process was made so easy by Nick and Jo the owners, who were very quick to respond, and David who manages the property was so helpful and friendly and was on hand during the week to answer any questions.
I would definitely recommend this villa and also Comares if you want to relax. If you want nightlife and lots of bars and restaurants, then this is not the place for you. Very typically Spanish and I truly hope it stays that way! We will definitely be returning soon
Just returned from 10 days at Casa Mendoza, booked through David ( Very professional and accommodating manager) at Vine Ridge retreats .
Excellent villa , well equipped and great location, ten days of peace and pleasure.
If Vine Ridge properties are all to this standard , can highly recommend them.
1st week of October 2017 and a wonderful location for a tranquil holiday. We’ve been in the Comares area a few times at a similar time of year and once more, we were not disappointed with the weather. Casa Mendoza has great views one can marvel from any aspect of the house. It is a well appointed, modern take on the traditional Spanish home and within a few hours of pottering about, one can feel very much at home. The owners and David make the booking and stay such an easy and pleasant process, always a pleasure.
If you like getting the most out the day then his house is perfectly positioned to get the last drops of sunshine later in the year, with stunning sunsets guaranteed. Pool is not heated but it was perfect to dip the toes in and cool off. Cyclists or runners, will appreciate this location for inmediate access to some awesome routes.
We look forward to a future visit.
Visited in 2016 returned in 2017
Beautiful villa with every amenity you could possibly need
Comfortable and clean in a peaceful beautiful location
Nearby restaurants are good and the village is a short walk away
Looking forward to hopefully returning in 2018
We are three couples of friends who rented this beautiful villa in Comares in August 2017. It corresponded exactly to the announcement. There were no unpleasant surprises and we had a great time. The panorama is beautiful, the villa very pleasant at 700 m altitude. The access is a bit difficult but we had been warned. David gave us a very pleasant courtesy visit. I recommend this place. On the other hand, it did not make us want to go back in the evening, because the roads are winding and the house is very welcoming.
I add that before the hiring the contacts with David were very clear and very fast.
we stayed at casa Mendoza for 10 nights mid sept. the villa is well furnished, maintained and presented. everything you need for a good holiday is there. The views are breath taking and the peace and tranquillity adds to a relaxing stay. I hope this wont be the last we see of casa Mendoza.
We stayed at the property for 10 nights in August, which is a couple of kilometres from Comares, along a narrow track. The views from the balcony are magnificent and the position of the villa makes it completely private from the other villas dotted around the valley. It is impossible not to relax and unwind the minute you step out of the car on arrival. The area is so serene and beautiful, it really is the ideal place to find peace.
Comares is within walking distance, taking around 40 minutes at a relaxed pace – probably best to leave it until early evening when it gets a little cooler. There are a few restaurants and bars to chose from, and you can normally get a taxi back from the square – although one evening we did walk back with the aid of a torch.
Benamagosa is a half hour drive away and you will find everything you need shopping wise. There are a couple of supermarkets, together with a butcher and a few bars and restaurants. We did a big shop on route from Malaga airport at Erisko, velez Malaga, and topped up every couple of days locally. It is about a 40 minute drive to the coast if you fancy a beach day.
The villa is very much home from home and equipped with absolutely everything you could possible need for a family holiday. In fact, on this trip we rarely strayed from the balcony and pool area because from morning through to night it really is the most glorious spot to sit and chill out!
We visited as a couple, but the villa is big enough to house a party of 5 or 6.
We cooked almost every evening on the outdoor barbeque which was lovely, and we found it had magic powers, as anything we left on it had disappeared by the morning!
If, like us, you lead a hectic and full on life and are looking for somewhere to thoroughly unwind for a few days, then this is the place to go. It is a delightful villa in a stunning position, and there is nothing better than watching the sun go down while sitting on the balcony looking at the spectacular landscape with a cold beer or glass on wine in hand!
It is our second trip to Comares, courtesy of David and Jacqui, and we are already looking forward to planning our next.
I definitely recommend Casa Mendoza, it's a really comfortable and attractive villa, with one or two stand out features... The first being the large patio area with lovely pool and shady veranda with table, chairs and comfy sofas. The second is the stunning views of the mountains every where you sit outside, and the peace. The villa is a little way out of town and away from other neighbours, which makes it very private. We lived outside all week, apart from when we watched the Olympics on the BBC in the evenings, which we were delighted to find as a bonus. The pool was spotlessly clean and perfect for cooling off and there are plenty of sun beds with loads of space on the patio. We enjoyed a walk each morning - there are paths everywhere - and our favourite was a circular walk into Comares, which is a delightful town. Have a drink outside the cafe in the small town square or in the delightful hotel courtyard before heading back to the villa via a shortcut over the hill, avoiding the main road. We managed a couple of excursions and a few meals out (all good) but mostly found excuses to walk into Comares or relax at the villa all week. David, Nick and Jo were all really helpful before and during our stay - thanks very much to all of you.
