Casa Rio

I've just returned from a second stay at this unique, rustic finca and I'm missing it already. With stunning views from the terraces, balcony and grounds and comfortable outdoor furniture in which you can contemplate them, a gem of a pool and shaded, cool and (almost) flyproof dining area the property is ideal for a get-away-from-it-all break. If you enjoy the real Spain, with a soundtrack of crowing cockerels, then this is the place for you. All the other reviews say it all.
David and Jacqui were as helpful and friendly as always and are always warm and welcoming. Love them both, that's why I keep returning to them.

Spent just over 2 weeks at this fabulous finca. Very peaceful area to stay, and the finca has a well kept garden/pool. The local cats and dogs came round to visit and I think they put on a few pounds whilst we were there (lol). Inside the finca was very cool during the day even with the doors open to the garden/pool and only needed to used the aircon in the bedroom at night. Very spacious kitchen and dining room with plenty of outdoor eating areas. Great BBQ and ideal separate bar to keep drinks. The pool was great during the hot days and plenty of areas just to relax and read. The road/track to the villa is not for the novice driver but after a couple of days didn't cause any problems. Thank you David and Jacqui for recommending this great finca and already booking with you for next year.

I’ve just returned from a delightful 7-night break in Casa Rio and would highly recommend it to prospective guests. This charming finca provides everything you could need for a recharging break in a unique location.
David and Jacqui of Vine Ridge Retreats provide comprehensive, unobtrusive, cheerful, knowledgeable support and the fact that I have returned to them so many times (and I’m picky – believe me…) should be a testament to the quality of the service they provide.
Casa Rio is an oasis of tranquillity nestled against the hillside overlooking the course of the seasonal Rio Solano with far-reaching views to the mountain of La Maroma and the ancient hilltop town of Comares. Accessed by a network of safe, if hair raising, tracks from the Benamargosa to Riogordo road, the finca is situated in mature gardens with a wealth of seating areas and terraces.
The superb pool is split between 1 and 2 metre depths with the water temperature during my stay never less than 28 centigrade with a daily air temperature of 34 centigrade in the shade.
With a fully-equipped kitchen, aircon throughout the property and plenty of space to spread out and relax, what’s not to like about it?
I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this rental and would return in a heartbeat. Thanks once again David and Jacqui for making it happen.

We first stayed at casa Rio four years ago. Since then we have stayed in several other villas managed by David and Jacqui, so this time we decided to go back to Casa Rio.
We were not disappointed. It was just as we remembered.
Peaceful,quiet and the countryside as beautiful as always.
The five weeks we stayed were wonderful, one of us had a special birthday which we spent with David and Jacqui.
A big thank you goes to David and Jacqui for their patience as we had to change flights a few times due to the current situation.
We certainly recommend CasaRio, for a relaxing and peacful holiday.

Hemos pasado unos días estupendos en Casa Río, un lugar acogedor y muy tranquilo, con unas espectaculares vistas a Comares y a sus montes. La piscina impresionante, muy cuidada donde adultos y niños disfrutamos de lo lindo.Con muchos lugares con sombra y bonitos árboles frutales. El anfitrión muy amable y servicial. A tener en cuenta que la casa queda un poco apartada de todo y con acceso algo complicado, pero merece la pena!!

Hemos pasado unos días estupendos en Casa Río. Tiene una espectacular piscina muy bien cuidada donde hemos disfrutado adultos y niños. Muchos lugares con asientos y sombra, con árboles frutales. David es muy amable y servicial.La villa está apartada con un acceso un poco complicado, pero merece la pena!

Esta casa que nos ofreció David es maravillosa para disfrutar de unos días de paz y tranquilidad fuera de la gran ciudad.
Fuimos varios amigos y la verdad que todos hemos quedado encantados tanto con las instalaciones de la misma cómo con el entorno.
Buscábamos unos días para desconectar de todo y relajarnos y en casa Río lo hemos conseguido.
La piscina genial para aliviar el calor y con unas vistas estupendas tanto a la montaña cómo al precioso pueblo de Comares.
Las zonas de sombra de la piscina, el bar y el porche son ideales para disfrutar de charlas y comidas en el exterior.
Una magnífica experiencia que seguro repetiremos.

Gave David our requirements for this summers extended family break and we are awkward buggers...... must have this must have that ????????????????. David as usual with a smile and a quip did the business again and introduced us to Casa Rio. Ticked all the must have boxes, air con in bedrooms, plenty of out door seating, gas griddle and huge charcoal bbq and a lovely well maintained deep pool so be careful of you have kids! A third of it is about 3’ foot deep and then drops to 6’6”. A car is essential and a confident driver as the last run to the villa is down a single track with a vertigo inducing drop, but all part of the Spanish adventure! The villa is well equipped and spacious with plenty of seating inside and out. My only niggle would be the bathrooms are a little tired and could do with some attention but still serviceable. I have to say it’s the trust we have in David that keeps us coming back to him to book, nothing is too much trouble and he always keeps in contact by text for advice without ever being intrusive. June 2019 We stayed at Casa Rio for three weeks for a family reunion. This was the perfect retreat and very comfortable and spacious. The outside space and pool are a delight and the views of the mountains and Comares are spectacular. The shade provided in the outside dining area and in the garden was welcome. The kitchen was well equipped and barbecue great. The access road is a little daunting at first but we soon got used to it. We loved it!

Our second visit to this absolute gem of a villa set on the hill-side just below picturesque Comares with breathtaking views down the valley from the poolside and the balcony. Our "grown-up" kids were never out of the fantastic pool where we watched from the shaded chillout area. Cannot fault the villa itself which is obviously a well loved family home equiped with absolutely everything you might need including a charming farmhouse kitchen, big TV with UK channels and decent Wifi for the kids. David was as helpful as ever and made us feel very welcome. We just love the secluded location where you can decompress and unwind far away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Just blissfull.
