Puerto Banus or Puerto Jose Banus is located in Nueva Andalucia, to the west of the cosmopolitan town, Marbella.
Designed to be a luxury marina and shopping complex catering to the taste of the super wealthy, it was built in the 1970’s by Jose Banus who gave the marina its name.
Today, Puerto Banus is one of the largest entertainment centres in the Costa del Sol having at least 5 million visitors a year. Although it was an exclusive spot known to only locals and celebrities in the past, this area is now ideal for high flying business men and women as well as families looking for a great and relaxing time.
As with the nearby towns of Andalucia, Puerto Banus boasts a micro climate with plenty of sunshine all year round. It has over 300 days of sunshine each year with May and September being the best months to visit.
Puerto Banus is famous for the multimillion dollar yachts that commonly dock on this picturesque marina. Along its streets, it isn’t surprising for you to find equally expensive cars like Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins and the like.
Things to do:
Shopping
Puerto Banus also has its share of world class shopping. The streets are lined with designer labels such as Christian Dior, Versace, Prada and more. If you are willing to explore beyond the main streets, you will also discover great finds at several local and Spanish boutiques.
