It is a well designed open plan living space with the following zones.
A double bedroom area which has plenty of storage and a lovely shower room leading from this area which gives the feeling of an en-suite and spoils you with a large walk in mosaic tiled shower plus of course WC and basin. It is curtained off from the living area.
There is a cleverly planned Spanish influenced kitchen with a fridge freezer, 4 ring gas hob, microwave and plenty of cooking utensils and crockery. It also allows you to cook a paella, drink a glass of vino and gaze across to the sierras with the minimum of effort.
The sofa itself is opposite the satellite television with some English channels and DVD player, but often the 2 metre windows will focus your eyes towards the living picture beyond, especially if the eagles are floating on the thermals.
There is also a table in front of the patio doors which tends to be mainly used when alfresco living becomes less appetising in winter. Wi-fi is available.
The aim of our studio as with all of our rentals is to give functional and comfortable environment for you to relax in whilst on holiday.
Outside of the studio are tables and chairs in your own area and rustic stairs leading up to the pool terrace.
We have added a Jacuzzi for use in the Autumn/Winter months.

I am losing count of the times I have returned to this Axarquia idyll - I think it's about five! Initially the stunning views and the natural peaceful environment provided the lure but it is also the warm welcome from our hosts, David & Jacqui, as well as the breakfast visits from 'The Boys' - the dogs Charlie, Cheeko and Bruno who are fantastic company. It's a beautiful drive either up to the Moorish hilltop town of Comares or to the friendly resort of Torre del Mar. I have got into the habit of hiring a road bike from Biciterraneo in Torre at least for one day to explore the quiet hill roads within a few kilometres of the coast for a very reasonable cost. It was so refreshing to wake up to the pleasantly warm Spring sunshine streaming in through the large patio windows of the Studio and to know that everything was on hand for a comfortable stay - including a couple of cold San Miguel beers in the fridge! Freesat TV also works well and the shower is always good and hot. See you again very soon David & Jacqui. David
Vine Ridge is indeed a retreat. Hidden in the Axarquia hills near to Comares, it provided everything I could possibly need for a 'get away from it all' break. The studio is great and contained every mod con to make me feel comfortable and at home. It is an easy drive from there to Comares, a gorgeous village nearby, perched on top of the mountain. Or else, if I had felt energetic, I believe that the walk over the hills to Comares is only about 30 minutes. I was an almost daily visitor to the village; I loved to explore there, climb through the streets, visit the landmarks and take in the stunning views. The people are very friendly and helpful, particularly in the cafe in the village square. I enjoyed sitting there in the sunshine watching the life of the village pass by.
David and Jacqui are excellent hosts. I highly recommend Vine Ridge Retreats!
Got back yesterday from what i can only describe as heaven, we've had an amazing 9 days at vine ridge studio. The views are fantastical, the hosts an absolute pleasure, and the three friendly little dog's just completed our holiday. Can highly recommend this.
Our second visit to Vine Ridge, and we weren't dissapointed, The Welcome, both human an canine was just as warm as our first visit. We hired a car with a little more power so it was easy to get up to vine ridge. Booking is easy with David and Jacqui and we can see a third visit when we want to recharge our batteries again.
this is a review i have been meaning to do since we were there in june 2016, now feb 17.
From booking to arrival went as smooth as silk with David & Jacqui, the girls and of course the wonderful dogs. Its a fun drive up to vine ridge, but when you arrive the view is Jaw dropping, and we sat there day or night drinking something soft, and something stronger sometimes just admiring the views. we just wanted to rest, but on the times we went out we found no problem getting good food. it was so relaxing we felt fully recharged to face the world again after 2 weeks there. when we want a similar break we wouldnt hesitate to go back to vine ridge
What a delightful place for our December escape! The location is idyllic- quiet with amazing views of mountains and sea, a perfect place for those who love both. Comares is an utterly charming village with very interesting history. It’s a very nice walk up the hill from Vine Ridge. The studio apartment was lovely and comfortable with internet and all we needed to cook.
David and Jacqui were very kind and full of useful information about the area and activities. The dogs really helped make us feel at home. Despite the chilly mornings the pool was great for a refreshing dip, followed by a warming soak in the jacuzzi.
Many thanks to our wonderful hosts, we hope to return soon!
We spent a wonderful week at Vine Ridge. Before we even arrived we knew it was going to be special. The drive up the mountain is an adventure and certainly exhilerating as we drove higher and higher. What a wonderful reward arriving at Vine Ridge. The views are spectacular and right there outside our studio ! Wonderful to wake up to each morning . David and Jaqui are brilliant hosts, so helpful and informative and very welcoming. Charlie, Bruno and Chico are a delight, greeting us each morning, although the doggie biscuits may have helped. The pool area is really lovely and you can float about and still take in the view or catch an eagle on the thermals. I love the bed by the pool, great idea. We laid on it at night to watch the stars and saw two shooting stars one night. The studio are bright modern spotlessly clean and have everything you need for a comfortable stay. We are not surprised that folk return here all the time it is so lovely and relaxing. Vine Ridge is a wonderful place to spend time and we highly recommend it
In thirty years of visiting Spain I haven't stayed anywhere near as good as this break at Vine Studios for the combination of panoramic mountain-to-seaviews from the window; the quiet and privacy; the warmth and attention to detail of David & Jacqui; the scent of almond blossom in the evening (if you are here in Jan/Feb!); birdlife of eagles, warblers and hoopoes and more that even Chris Packham would be happy with; and should you tire of what's on your doorstep then with several big lung-fulls of mountain air you can walk up to the bar in Comares in 20 mins. Also, should you need more than the unbroken view of sunrise to awaken you then the powerful, hot shower and Spanish filter coffee will have bouncing into the morning! Thanks David & Jacqui - I think it hardly needs saying but Hasta Pronto!
Just relax and unwind when you stay at one of David and Jacqui s apartments.
We were made to feel very welcome during our visit by David and Jacqui which means a lot. Always there to help, including by prior arrangement, driving guests to local villages, restaurants etc. How bad is that ?
Although the track leading up to Vine Ridge may seem somewhat precarious, it only takes 5 mins to reach and after a couple of journeys up and down adds to the magic of ones stay.
Off the beaten track ? Yes, but accessible by car... Unless you drive a Ferrari. 🙂
The views from all three apartments are stunning, you can even see the Med in the distance.
The apartments are all very well thought out with all necessary amenities, even towels are supplied.
We really liked the fact that David and Jacqui were kind enough to leave some essentials for guests which prior guests had left as gifts ie tea bags, coffee, sugar, milk, condiments. We were lucky enough to be left a bottle of wine and a large unopened bottle of water in the fridge ! Fantastic !
The private pool is well kept and is filtered at least twice daily and is naturally heated by the sun throughout the day.
David and Jacqui own three dogs that always made their presence known but were never a problem as they were friendly and loved attention. Always happy hounds with wagging tails. 🙂
Now, if its the night life, fast paced activities and bustling streets you require, then I doubt this is for you, But... If you want peace and quiet, stunning views,,walks galore, sun and half an hours drive away ,sea and sand, then look no further.
We will return ! 🙂
We really liked this place - the mountain views and the walking made for a real break away from it all. The studio is a comfortable place to stay and the hosts really know how to make you feel comfortably at home. Loved David's garage bar - so handy. Never been to coastal Spain before but this holiday makes a return very likely.
