Casita La Huerta is modern in build but traditional in style and has lovely arches and rooftop terraces that help make it a little more special than the average newer builds and looks as though it has stood in its grounds for decades not just years.
The cottage lends itself to being a honeymoon or romantic retreat for couples as it is positioned in a lovely secluded spot with one neighbour below, comfortable positioned far enough away with no one looking into your space or pool area.
The peaceful location is enhanced with lovely valley views and river walks in the dry summer months.
There has been no expense spared on the interior fittings and the quaint Moorish influenced furniture and fabrics combined with chunky wooden tables and cupboards are totally in unison with a great modern kitchen which is the focus of the front of the cottage and allows you to cook and look at the views whilst sipping the odd glass of wine.
The lounge area is spacious and airy and located in the back of the cottage with lovely patio doors leading to the great 8 x 4 m pool, which has steps in one corner if you are toe tester and not a diver!
The terrace around the pool allows you to sun bath with one eye kept on the pool which will tempt you in on a regular basis.
The upstairs has 2 lovely bedrooms both with en-suites and the master bedroom also has a bath. The master bedroom has its own terrace, great for that morning coffee or orange juice whilst you contemplate the day ahead. Though the other bedroom with twin beds has balcony windows and pool views. There is also a lovely roof terrace for extra privacy and sunbathing.
There are mosquito nets on the windows and fans provided so the cooler night breeze will lead to a good night’s rest.
There is plenty of alfresco dining space for sun worshippers and shade seekers alike and you will find yourself moving around the outside of the cottage until the views and spot are in harmony with what you desire.
Great size well equipped with Large Gas Oven and 5 ring hob, microwave, toaster, Large Fridge/Freezer and Dishwasher.
There is a great Breakfast bar and 2 stools, great for relaxing while preparing the Dinner! There are plenty of utensils and pots and pans. The free standing furniture add to the ‘Country Cottage’ feel.
Lovely comfortable seating area for 4 people, with TV and DVD player. The patio doors open up straight out onto the pool terrace. There is a small table & chairs situated next to the patio doors where you can sit and look at the views. The wood burner is a good addition for winter bookings. The Large wooden doors open up on to the side terrace, which is covered, great to get away from the sun for a bit! There is also wi-fi available.
The front terrace is a great feature with lovely arch’s that give wonderful views through the valley. The large wooden table caters for 4 people, great for the evening meal by the BBQ. Opposite is a rustic bench, and a beautiful water fountain on the wall.
A car is really essential for this style of rental as you drive up towards Comares and then turn off 10 minutes down towards the river and the cottage on a mainly tarmac road, so a walk up hill in the summer months would be difficult but the location gives you tranquillity, peace and seclusion in equal amounts.
Although we believe it is a romantic location we are happy for families of four or groups to rent but we feel an £50 per week per person is fully justified for the extra numbers.
Come and discover this lovely cottage nestled below the comforting security of its nearby big brother village Comares and I guarantee you will return and recommend.

Another wonderful holiday at Casita Le Huerta, our fourth here in 4 years! Beautiful, peaceful, a fantastic swimming pool; a very special place. Many thanks.
Just back from an eight day stay at the wonderful Casita La Huerta. What a fantastic place. Great places to sit in the shade or in the sun and a fantastic pool. The place really is beautiful. Thank you.
Well, it's all been said before about Casita la Huerta. It is wonderful, it is peaceful, it is a fabulous home from home, and, of course, like most of its previous visitors we really did not want to leave.
To spend time here is totally relaxing and totally comfortable in all respects. It must be said though that we did have jobs to do; namely to ensure the twice-daily visiting 4 dogs and 2 cats were fed and (where they allowed it) were given a stroke and a fuss! But that was an added pleasure for us though as we do like a creature around the place.
So a big thank you to the owners for creating this haven of happiness for the likes of us to enjoy.
Nestled on the side of a hill, overlooking a valley and green surrounding hills, lies Casita La Huerta. A unique, picturesque home from home, with every comfort and convenience, plus chic furniture and fittings, in fact a perfect backdrop for a quiet peaceful holiday, which we wholeheartedly recommend.
Once we had navigated the slightly hazardous approach to the villa, arriving eventually was a wonderful surprise. The pictures do not do it justice. Our big disappointment, was having to leave, but hope one day to return and repeat the experience. Many thanks for our holiday!
We have recently returned from an absolutely wonderful holiday at Casita La Huerta. The design and fabulous location is a credit to the owners and we felt very privileged to be able to stay here.
If we hadn't ventured out a couple of times the only life we would have seen was a goat hearder who passed the villa each evening and a few farmers harvesting their almond trees on the surrounding hillsides.
We stocked up at the supermarket and dined each evening using the BBQ and all three tables each facing a different direction.
Waking up to a beautiful sunrise each morning was magical and I even enjoyed a little bit of yoga on the bedroom Terrace.
The villa has everything you could need and my husband even managed to watch an England game on the English channels.
Since returning home I have found myself day dreaming about sitting by the pool and watching the sunset behind the wonderful hills, we would definitely love to return one day.
Superb villa in a wonderful location. We stocked up on food and drink on our way and had an extremely restful 'get-away-from-it-all' ten days. The house was spacious and very well equipped with a lovely pool area. We would agree with another reviewer that a car with adequate power to cope with the steep hills and unmade tracks would be an advantage. David was a superb host and ensured that we had everything we needed. Would unhesitatingly recommend.
We recently stayed at Casita La Huerta for a week and treasured every minute of our vacation there. The casita is spacious, well-designed, attractively and simply decorated, beautifully situated, and was equipped for all of our needs. We enjoyed relaxing in the pool, eating meals while overlooking the beautiful mountain views, soaking in the warm sun, relishing the cool evening breezes, and simply disconnecting in the solitude and quiet that the location provides (and we especially enjoyed the periodic visits from the cats and dogs - so cute!). The village of Comares is close, there are a number of good bars/restaurants in the area, and beaches are about an hour's drive away. But we found ourselves scaling back some of our plans so we could simply maximize our time at the casita. We're glad that we did - we loved it! Thanks Jacqui and David for a wonderful stay.
This was our second visit to the area with Vine Ridge Retreats but our first at La Huerta. The little villa is full of charm and quirkiness and suited us in every way - loved the collection of old stoves, especially the one under the bread bin; and the table in the lounge....just what is that sunken bowl for? All the little touches are there that make the villa feel more like a home than a rental, and the welcome pack provided by Vine Ridge means that you can start your holiday immediately even after a late flight - David & Jacqui continue to impress us with their professionalism and their genuine interest in their guests, it makes a huge difference. We didn't do much, having stocked up on food and wine on the way up (you can get some excellent Rueda Verdejos for under 3 euros!!) we spent the week reading, wildlife watching, and enjoying the wrap around views which were compulsive viewing! - when it gets too hot the pool is very inviting. Best advice I can give is to give in to the villa and just chill.... oh and book two weeks cause one wont be enough. Nick & Yvonne - Yorkshire
Our 3rd visit in a little over 18 months and enjoyable as ever. A lovely layout enabled some welcoming respite from the intense heat the week of 10-17 June, with the pool also being a valuable asset.
Peace and tranquility is the order of the day here and a stern nerve with the drive to and from the house is required - all part of the getting away from it spirit. Lovely kitchen and the BBQ made for wonderful meals over long evenings this year.
Always look forward to this (re)treat...
Thanks again to David and the team for making it all so easy

We had such a lovely and relaxing time at this gorgeous villa. Everything was beautiful from the villa itself to the pool and surrounding countryside. We couldn't recommend it more highly.
Make sure you take a car which can handle the steep inclines - although it was doable with our 1 litre petrol car, and if you're very scared of height you might want to give it a miss.
Also, either plan to eat out your first night, or pick up some food from a supermarket as driving times to good amenities are lengthy - not a bad thing of course because we wouldn't ever want the rural aspect to be spoilt! It is so beautiful.
Many thanks again.
